Designer MITRA MORTAZAVI was determined to give something back to her community. Drawing inspiration from women who have had the courage to escape domestic abuse, she turned that inspiration into action with the Celebrate Courage Program. Designed to raise money in support of the many shelters to which these victims of abuse often turn, Celebrate Courage organizes community workshops at participants can design and make necklaces which they can then either purchase or donate back to the program for sale through the Mimi + You website. All proceeds from the sales are donated to Shelternet.ca, Canada's only national online resource and support network for abused women and their children.
